Why you'll love this wine?

Another Tuscan beauty makes it’s way onto the Rated Wine list…

Brunello di Montalcino is wine made from 100% Sangiovese with Italy’s highest DOCG classification. It's often said that Brunello Sangiovese is Italy’s best expression of this grape and with great potential for ageing, Brunello has many guises...

This relatively young Brunello is adolescent in all of its full-bodied red berried, savoury, dark cherry and leather belted glory. Surprisingly subtle and smooth given it's age, you're presented with mellow plum and dark red berries wrapped up in it's beautifully round and silky texture. Nicely balanced with a mild, fresh acidity it has a gentle, long-lasting mouthfeel and finish.

A serious wine then that's already showing signs of great sophistication.  Drink now or stash some away!

Best enjoyed with...

Brunello likes unctuous but uncomplicated fatty food. It’s a great wine that deserves something substantial, lamb, pheasant casserole or a nice cassoulet would be a treat.

“Loads of ripe plum and sweet cherry that just follows through all the way to the nice little backbone in this Brunello. Along with coffee and some undertones of smoke. Good acidity and with fine medium+ tannins. Really a good build Brunello with great taste. Drink it now and for the next 5-10 years. ”

“Really good value Brunello here. Picked this one up in Rome for 40 euro. Good fruit quality. Lots of classic Brunello in this one with lots of tobacco, leather, dark fruit and chocolate along with some tart cherry on an above-average length finish. Nice rugged earthiness and grittiness to the texture results in a great mouth feel and coating. Not as thin as many Brunellos. Overall an above-average Brunello and a very attractive price point given the quality. I definitely recommend”
